The award-winning US network television series Boston Legal featured the Nimmo Bay Resort in a contentious episode titled Finding Nimmo that aired in fall 2005. Filmed in Nimmo Bay in April 2005, Emmy-winning actors William Shatner and James Spader, who play Boston lawyers, arrive at the remote fishing hole for a weekend of male bonding and flyfishing, but become embroiled in the politics of fish farming versus wild fish. The episode deals with the threat that fish farms pose to wild salmon through the proliferation of sea lice, and includes a courtroom scene set in Port McNeill on Vancouver Island.

Location: Nimmo Bay is located on the BC mainland, 200 miles (320 kms) northwest of Vancouver. The nearest large community is Port Hardy on the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. There is no road access to Nimmo Bay. The quickest way to get to Nimmo Bay is by air from the South Terminal of Vancouver Airport on Pacific Coastal Airlines to Port Hardy (1 hour). Flight time from Port Hardy to Nimmo Bay is 25 minutes. Private float planes can land and be secured in Nimmo Bay, and there is also a float plane service from Vancouver and Seattle direct to Nimmo Bay.

In winning this prestigious international award, Nimmo Bay beat out such renowned international destinations such as Hawaii, Iguazu Falls in South America, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, Victoria Falls in Africa.
